ZYF helps Tata Sumo accident victims

Imphal, August 10, 2012:
The Adhoc Relief Committee formed under the initiative of Zeliangrong Youth Front (Imphal West Zone) has extended financial aid to the accident victims of a Tata Sumo which occurred between Shangrung (Khongsang) and Tamenglong leaving five people dead and seven others injured.
The financial aid was distributed during a simple function held on August 8 at the head office of ZYF.
Family members of the deceased victims were provided Rs 10,000 each while injured victim were provided Rs 4000 each.
Informing this in a statement signed by its Chairman Hounilung Panmei, ZYF (IW Zone) alleged that the government despite numerous requests and appeals has been ignoring the pathetic condition of the road stretch between Khongsang and Tamenglong HQ.
Accidents have become common happenings along this stretch due to deplorable condition of the road.
It further warned the booking counters of the vehicles plying along the road to stop excess allotment of seats beyond the actual capacity.
It also demanded the vehicles to stop service along the road if they do not possess Passengers Insurance Policy and urged concerned authority to check the registration and insurance documents of the vehicles plying along the said road.
