NVEWA demands pension for employees of Navodaya Vidyalaya

Representative of Navodaya Vidyalaya met Union Education Minister Nishank Pokhriyalga on Tuesday demanding pension for the teachers.and employees of the institution.
According to S Paul, Deputy General Secretary of Navodaya Vidyalaya Employees Welfare Association (NVEWA), Central Executive Committee, the Union Minister, during the meeting, had assured of consulting the matter with the Union Finance Minister for providing pension to them under CCS Pension Scheme 1972 or Annuity Pension Scheme (APS) .
The Deputy General Secretary maintained that the teachers and employees of the institution have submitted memoranda to MPs of the States including Manipur MPs Leisemba Sanajaoba (Rajya Sabha), Dr RK Ranjan (Lok Sabha ) and Lorho S Pfoze (Lok Sabha) on different occasions concerning this matter.
Navodaya Vidyalaya was established in 1986 under the supervision of the then Prime Minister (Late) Rajiv Gandhi.
However, the employees of this institution are still not covered under any pension schemes of the country, he said adding that employees of other similar institutions such as Kendra Vidyalaya, NIOS, Central Tibetan School are entitled to pension under 1972 CCS Pension Scheme.
He then urged Prime Minister Narenda Modi and Union Education to do the needful.
