Kshetri Bir to be awarded Nilima Sinha Memorial Award 2022

Imphal, August 09 2022: Renowned Manipuri author and Sahitya Akademi Awardee Kshetri Bir has been selected for the prestigious biennial Nilima Sinha Memorial Award 2022 conferred by Bangladesh Manipuri Sahitya Sangsad(BMSS) .

It may be noted that this award is given to noted personalities in the field of Manipuri literature and culture.

A statement issued by AK Sheram, president, Bangladesh Manipuri Sahitya Sangsad (BMSS) has shared that for 2022 the biennial award would be conferred upon Kshetri Bir who hails from Kakching Sumak Leikai, Manipur during BMSS's international conference slated to be held at Sylhet, Bangladesh on November 4 of this year.

The statement added that the award would be given in acknowledgement of the Sahitya Akademi Awardee's contribution in the field of Manipuri literature.

The award consists of a certificate of recognition, shawl, crest and a cash incentive.

BMSS will also bear the cost of two persons' round trip fare.

It is worth noting that the first Nilima Sinha Memorial Award was handed out in 2017 .
