UNC to ban Central projects from Aug 11

Imphal, August 09, 2013:
United Naga Council (UNC) has announced indefinite bandh on all construction works of Central Projects such the Trans-Asian Railway line and Power Grid Line will come into effect from midnight of August 11. Announcing this in a statement issued by its Publicity Wing, the Naga body said, "To protest against the lack of respect and seriousness in upholding the democratic process of dialogue initiated by the Government of India(GoI) itself on the demand for an alternative arrangement outside the Government of Manipur and to urge the GoI for immediate intervention pending settlement of the Indo-Naga issue as already publicised in our Press Statement dated 6th August, 2013 a series of protest activities are being taken up till an intervention from the GoI is secured".
We appeal to the general public and all concerned to kindly respect the sentiments which have occasioned the protest activities and extend their cooperation and solidarity to ensure peaceful and non-violent observation of the same.
Adequate time has been given with prior general information and therefore any violation will be at one's own risk.
The indefinite ban on all construction works of Central Projects such as the Trans-Asian Railway line and Power Grid line will come into effect from the midnight of 11th August, 2013, the Naga body said.
All Naga tribe Hohos, Regional and Frontal Organisations are directed to take up appropriate measures in their respective jurisdictions for the effective observation of the total bandh, abstention and ban, the statement added.
