Jiribam, July 09 2014:
In response to the appeals made by CSOs and guardians of students as well as in respect of the assurance given by the state government regarding their long standing demands, the four agitating student bodies of Jiribam have announced that the indefinite closure of private and government schools of Jiribam will be relaxed from tomorrow but blockade along highways and ban on government office will continue.
Demanding posting of the requisite teachers and necessary infrastructure in schools in Jiribam sub division, the four student bodies namely AMSU District Committee of Jiribam, MSF Special Branch, DESAM Local Council and KSA Jiribam Unit have been resorting to indefinite closure of schools, offices and blockade of Jiri-Imphal highway.
Leaders of the agitating student organisations said their demands are for the benefit of student community and it is not possible to attend schools in the absence of teachers and school buildings.
Appealing to the public to support their move, the student leaders announced that schools in Jiribam will be opened from tomorrow, while the stir on indefinite closure of government offices and highway blockade will remain unchanged.
