Chandel, October 08 2024: With a focus on raising awareness about heart disease and preventive measures, Non-Communicable Disease Cell, District Health Society, Chandel observed World Heart Day 2024 on Tuesday at Penaching Village Community Hall, Chandel under the theme 'Use Heart for Action'.

The observation ceremony began with a welcome note from Lamthaka Meshil Charanga, APM, NCD Chandel.

The event was graced by Dr Joyson Matthew Monsang, CMO, DHS Chandel as chief guest; Dr L Deben Singh, DNO, NCD, Chandel as functional president and Khp Ng Vimandra, Assistant Chief PVA as guest of honour.

The event emphasized the urgency of raising awareness on heart health and accelerating actions to prevent, detect early, and manage cardiovascular diseases (CVDs).

The modest gathering also witnessed the attendance of MOs, ANMs, ASHA workers/facilitators, staff of DHS Chandel, village leaders and the general public.

Free screening of NCD related diseases such as BP, hypertension and diabetes along with RBS and ECG scanning were also conducted at the premises.

Later, as part of the World Heart Day observation, DHS Chandel organised football matches at Liwa Sarei's Thoruwl Turf ground.
