Chandel, October 08 2015:
During a surprise visit to the the ADC headquarters office on October 5, a team of the Committee on Protection of Tribal Rights (CoPoTR) found only a few staff attending office while the rest along with the Chief Executive Officer were found functioning from Imphal.
Informing this in a statement, CoPoTR chairman Wng Victor Kohring said that making the ADC Chandel function from Chingmeirong during the last five years was againt ADC rules and added that a repeat act will affect district resources, economy and developmental plan.
The CoPoTR in this connection has appealed to the ADC staff concerned as well as the elected MDCs to attend the head office located at Monsang Pantha.
Otherwise they will face stringent action from the committee, Kohring warned in a statement.
The CoPoTR's statement on the other hand extended moral support to BJP's protest against the appointment of a junior IAS officer to the post of Chief Secretary by superseding a senior tribal IAS officer.
CoPoTR alleged that the State Govt has yet again discriminated the tribal people of the State.
Accusing the State Government of being partisan, the CoPoTR chairman questioned how the tribals can afford to live together in such a situation.
