12th Ching-Tam Traditional Cultural Festival concludes

The closing ceremony of the 12th Ching-Tam Traditional Cultural Festival was organised by Temple of Universal Peace Awareness cum Arts and Culture Academy (TUPAACA), Manipur today at the auditorium of Rupmahal Theatre, BT Road.
The function was graced by Joychandra Konthoujam, president United Committee Manipur; Pukhrambam Bilash Singh, Director, Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy and Okram Lokendro Singh, Joint Director, State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Manipur as chief guest, functional president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking as the chief guest, Joychandra Konthoujam stated that the age-old traditions, culture, lifestyle and traditional attire left behind by Manipuri ancestors represent Manipur in the global stage.

Asserting that gradual degradation of these age-old values will lead to the disappearance of the Manipuri community as a whole, he appealed to the people of the State as well as those Manipuris settled outside the State to always adhere to cultural traditions.
Ratan Leishangthem, president, TUPAACA also addressed the gathering and stated that the 12th Ching-Tam Traditional Cultural Festival was conducted with the goal of mitigating the deteriorating state of Manipuri culture and lack of knowledge about Manipuri cultural heritage among the people.
He also shared that plans are underway for selected artists from the festival to present their performances at various cultural festivals outside the State.
