MSC/AITUC appeals for renovation of Likhru bridge

Imphal, June 08 2022: Manipur State Council, All India Trade Union Congress (MSC/AITUC), has appealed to the State administration to renovate Likhru bridge located in Senapati district along the Imphal-Dimapur highway which has become a "grave" for truck drivers and handymen.

In a statement, MSC/AITUC also appealed to the State Government to bear the costs of medical expenses for the grievously injured truck driver and handyman who were hurt in an accident at Likhru bridge on June 7 .

It may be noted that recently a driver and a handyman had lost their lives after meeting with an accident at Likhru bridge on May 12.Subsequently, on May 15, two more individuals, a driver and a handyman, suffered the same fate at the same bridge.

MSC/AITUC maintained that the occurrence of frequent accidents has become a source of shame for the engineers of the State and further highlighted the shortcomings of the Works Department.
