Truck seized by armed Kukis found burnt

Imphal, March 08 2024:
After heavily armed Kuki volunteers brutally assaulted the driver and handyman of a dumper truck on their way back after offloading materials for barrack construction of the police at Moreh IB on Thursday, the seized dumper (Hyva) truck was found set ablaze.
According to a police report, the charred truck was found by a Moreh Police team at the Bypass Road of Moreh on Friday morning during search operation for the same.
It may be mentioned here that armed Kuki volunteers thrashed the driver, Md Elaa (30), son of Md Ibungo of Kairang Chingya Leikai and handyman Md Emin (29) son of Md Sanaton on Thursday.
Both were warned not to do any work for the state forces.
On receiving report of the incident, a team of Moreh PS rushed in and rescued both but the armed volunteers managed to drive away the dumper truck.
Meanwhile, a video circulating on social media shows the driver and handyman being tied up and beaten with sticks.
The unseen individuals questioning them ask how many times they had transported sand for construction to which the duo responded trice.
Mention may be made that the armed men also snatched mobile phones of Elaa and Emin.
