One killed in mishap

Churachandpur, February 08 2020:
A truck driver was killed in a mishap in Churachandpur district today.
The truck (Shaktiman) driver identified as Lam-thianmang, son of Nemkhongai of Mata village, was engaged in ferrying firewood from interior areas of Churachandpur district.
Sources said the mishap occurred at T Kotlian village, Singngat sub-division as the truck plunged down a mountain slope at around 8 am.
He had instructed his helper to remove wooden wedges placed against the vehicle's wheels when the axle failed causing the truck to skid and plunge down the mountain slope.
He (driver) was killed instantly and his body was recovered at around 1.30 pm.
The body will be buried tomorrow as per customary rites, added the source.
This is the second fatality reported from Churachandpur this week.
Earlier, on February 6, a woman hailing from Senvon was killed in a mishap near Santing village as a Bolero jeep she was travelling in, along with eight others, plunged into a 100 feet gorge.
