Poppy plantations destroyed

Imphal, January 08 2021:
A combined team of NAB Imphal East district, Saikul Police station, NCB, District Administration, Home Guards, Imphal District police, 15 Assam Rifles, Horticulture department and Forest department, destroyed about 70 acres of illicit poppy plantations at the Maharani hill range under Sagolmang Police station jurisdiction, today.
The combined team consisting of Additional SP NAB, DSP CDO/IE, AC 5th IRB, OC SMG, OC NAB PS was led by W Basu, SP NAB.
An FIR regarding the destruction has been taken up at NAB PS.
Another joint team of district administration and district police Churapandpur along with officials of NAB and Forest Department destroyed 15 acres of poppy cultivation today at Songpeh and Mohnelphai under Sangaikot Subdivision in Churachandpur district.
A case has been registered at Churachandpur Police Station.
Similarly, various law enforcement agencies of the Government and district administration destroyed a large poppy plantation on Phalbung hill range in Tengnoupal district, yesterday.
Officials of the Tengnoupal district administration, district police, Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB), Forest and Horticulture Departments' personnel took part in the drive.
The team led by NAB SP W Basu, Tengnoupal Superintendent of Police, Th Vikramjit destroyed about 35 acres of poppy plantation.
