Skill training programme onaugurated at ICAR-RC for NEH Region

The 30 days Gardeners Skill Training Programme was inaugurated at ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Imphal today .
K Kipgen, Director, Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Manipur, K Jogesh Chandra Sharma, officer in-charge, Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture, Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Manipur, and Dr MR Sahoo, Senior Scientist (Horticulture), ICAR, Manipur graced the function as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively .
The programme was sponsored by Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), Department of Horticulture and Soil conservation, Manipur .
Speaking at the event, K Kipgen acknowledged that the training programme is the 5th batch of such type of training held at ICAR Manipur Centre in coordination with different KVK under ICAR .
He stated that through participation, the trainees, after spending a month and going through the knowledge and skills gained from the Gardeners Skill Training programme could take up their own livelihood more proficiently .
K Jogesh Chandra Sharma appreciated the effort taken up by the ICAR in conducting such type of training programme.
Dr MR Sahoo stressed on the need of introducing optimal dose of plant growth regulators, vitamins with the changing climatic situation and emphasised the need for improvement of knowledge, skill and attitude of the trainees through the training programme to improve the food production of the NEH region and to benefit the entire nation .
Punitha P, Scientist (Agricultural Extension), ICAR Manipur Centre as well as the Nodal Scientist of Gardeners Skill training programme, informed the trainees that around 60 lectures with more emphasis on practical aspects based on the syllabus of Agricultural Skill Council of India will be covered in the one month residential programme .
A Rajlakshmi Devi, Chief Technical Officer was the coordinator of the training programme .
Altogether 30 participants from Imphal East, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts participated in the programme.
