Noney landslide: Severed limb recovered

The death toll in the tragic Makhuam village landslide remained at 49 as bodies of the 12 other victims continued to stay missing till date.
Meanwhile, a solemn wreath laying ceremony was held at Tulihal Airport, Imphal on Thursday to pay tributes to Territorial Army's subedar Umesh Lama, who died in the Noney landslide.
His mortal remains were then airlifted to Bagdogra airport from where it would be taken to his native place.
According to sources, the Joint Task Force reinforced the search and rescue operation on Thursday, with the use of many excavator/dredging machines and the 'Through Wall Radar' brought from Leh, while the Recco Radar' from Manali is enroute to the operation site.
Although no bodies were recovered on the eight day of the operation, a decomposed severed arm was dug up along with the earth, raising the death toll to 49.Meanwhile, State Disaster Management Authority vice chairman Yanglet Haokip visited the incident sit and held a meeting with officials present at the location.
The meeting attended by NDRF, Railway, Manipur Police and District Administration officials, had a detailed discussion on how to recover the remaining 12 victims.
Yanglet Haokip was accompanied by a team of Thadou Students' Association Manipur GHQ led by its president Haokholen Haokip and secretary general Micheal Lamjathang Haokip during the visit.
The visiting team lauded the personnel and volunteers who are participating in the search and rescue operation.
They also donated food and other items for the personnel's use though DC Noney.
