Thoubal catching up with e-transfer

The benefits of Indira Gandhi National Old Age pension, Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme, India Gandhi National Disable Pension Scheme, which are being implemented by the Government of India under its National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), would henceforth be given through e-transfer directly into the respective bank accounts of the pensioners, Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal District T Ranjit, IAS, has informed.
Talking to mediapersons at his office chamber today, Ranjit said that the step has been taken up in accordance to the instruction given by the Union Ministry of Finance.
For the first phase, e-transfer of the amount to be given to 5909 Old age pensioners, 414 beneficiaries above 80 years of age, 316 widow pensioners and 44 disable persons in Thoubal district have already been done through their respective bank accounts.
E-transfer of the amount for school uniforms to be given to students under SSA as well as for Mid-Day Meal and honorarium for cook helpers have also been done through the respective bank accounts of the school management committee, he added.
It is said that the Union Ministry of Finance has sanctioned Rs 42,59,992 for cooking cost and honorarium for cook helpers under Mid-Day Meal for 113 schools (for 127 days) under Kakching block, Rs.72,04,000 for school uniforms for 222 Government schools under Thoubal district and Rs 1,21,94,800 for pension schemes under NSAP.
While appealing to those who have not opened their accounts in banks which have core-banking facility, the Deputy Commissioner made it clear that those who failed to open their bank accounts would not be able to enjoy the benefit in future.
