ATSUM calls consultative meeting over MAPM (P&F) Bill 2018

The All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) called a one day consultative meeting over the alleged controversial Manipur Agricultural Produce and Marketing (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2018 on March 9 at Tribal Research Institute (TRI) Conference Hall, Chingmeirong Imphal.
ATSUM general secretary, Seiboi Haokip said that since the apex tribal student body view the Manipur Agricultural Produce and Marketing (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2018 'Controversial and Anti- Tribal', it had submitted a memorandum to the Governor Dr Najma Heptullah on March 1 requesting her not to give assent to the Bill.
He also said that the said Bill was passed recently by the Manipur Legislative Assembly on February 23 without due process of law.
The student body has appealed all tribal leaders, intellectuals, social workers, student activists and all stakeholders to participate in the consultative meeting considering the need for wider consultation with regard to the Bill.
