False propaganda hallmark of BJP Govt: Ibobi
Source: Chronicle News Service

Thoubal, February 07 2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre is almost eight years old and CM Biren led government in the state is nearing five years in power but what changes have the BJP-led government in Manipur brought, questioned Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader and former chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh.

The former chief minister stated this during the flag hoisting ceremony of Congress and Manipur Progressive Secular Alliance (MPSA) candidate for Wangjing-Tentha assembly constituency Moirangthem Hemanta at the latter's Tentha Khongbal residence on Monday.

Addressing the gathering, O Ibobi said that several central leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Manipur frequently but no significant project for the state was brought except spreading false propaganda and causing headache to people of the state.

BJP is ruling at the Centre and also in the state, but the so-called double-engine government has led to regression of the state in reality.

Despite such poor performance BJP is spread false propaganda to the people stating that the double engine government has taken the state ahead to the path of development, O Ibobi maintained and appealed to people to support MPSA candidates and bring the state to the right path for expeditious development.

Regarding the Wangjing-Tentha assembly constituency, the former chief minister questioned if incumbent BJP MLA Paonam Brojen has brought any changes in the constituency except for hopping from one party to another.

He also described as very unfortunate for MLA Brojen to consider people of Wangjing-Ten-tha AC as fools and exhorted people of the constituency to choose their right candidate and decide whom should they vote in the upcoming election.

He also expressed regret that it was a mistake of Congress party to welcome Paonam Brojen when the party was having sufficient MLAs.

According to O Ibobi, more than 80 percent of construction work on the civil secretariat was executed during the Congress government but it remains incomplete even though the BJP led government is completing five years and Paonam Brojen is jumping into a party which could do nothing in five years.

He then appealed to electors of Wang-jing-Tentha to teach a fitting lesson to MLA Brojen in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election while maintaining that it was during Congress government that aided school of the constituency was upgraded to full-fledged high school and building for primary health centre was constructed In his speech, Moirangthem Hemanta called upon people to stand united and defeat the dictatorship government led by BJP which muzzles voices of the people.

He also said that six political parties formed MPSA to defeat the dictatorship government and bring a change.

The flag hoisting ceremony was also attended by Thoubal District Block Congress Committee president M Lukhoi, Wangjing Tentha Block Congress Committee president Sh Gopeshwar, Wangjing Tentha Block Congress Committee advisor L Shyamo and leaders of state units of RSP, AIFB, JDS, CPI and CPI(M) .

CPI Wangjing Tentha local leaders were also present at the event.
