The participants also offered floral tributes and observed two minutes of silence to pray respect to the departed soul.
Meanwhile, the Indian Association of Lawyers, Manipur Chapter, has also expressed its deep sorrow and anguish on the sudden & untimely demise of Chingtham Anandkumar Singh on October 31, 2023 .
"The officer was mercilessly assassinated by the Chin-Kuki Militants by firing upon the officer with sophisticated weapon Sniper on that fateful day while he was personally supervising/overseeing construction of a new helipad ground along with some senior officers and other subordinate police personnel", said Indian Association of Lawyers, Manipur Chapter in a release.
The association asserted that Ch Anandkumar Singh, having enough experience on the counter-insurgency front while working as an officer in the State Commando unit was a sincere and dedicated police officer of rare character working for the cause of the State and country with indomitable courage.
The association continued that in recognition of his rare quality of bravery, dedication to duty and wide experience in counter-insurgency activities, the officer was decorated with the Police Medal for Gallantry.
Pointing out that thousands of houses have been burnt down and countless precious lives have been lost including women, students & children since the conflict began on May 3, the association expressed its anguish over the failure of the Union and State Governments to control the situation even after 6 months.
"Now, it has been diagnosed that the prevailing crisis in the State is not a fall-out of a communal flare-up; rather the grim situation is created by Chin-Kuki militants influxed from a Myanmar, having close nexus with Kuki militants belonging to underground outfits under Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement.
So, it is a case of foreign aggression or mass genocide intending to eliminate Meitei community and creat a separate administration/ homeland of Kuki community by disintegrating the state of Manipur", it claimed.
The association mentioned that at this critical juncture, the State Government made a reinforcement arrangement to strengthen the security force deployed at Moreh in order to counter the well equipped Chin Kuki militants.
"However, the State Commando personnel were prevented from proceeding upto Moreh by some unscrupulous elements of Kuki community.
The State Home Department also remained as silent spectator and had no determination and commitment to overpower the unscrupulous elements and order the commando personnel to proceed upto Moreh by using force.
As such there was a critical situation at Moreh due to acute shortage of security force to cope with the Chin -Kukl militants, thereby resulting in total breakdown of law & order over there", it added.
"Had the Government made adequate deployment at Moreh with the State Commando force reinforced from Imphal, the untoward incident could have been prevented", it claimed.
The association further condemned the nefarious act of the Chin-Kuki militants involved in the crime as well as the failure of State & Union Government to face the foreign aggression and protect the territorial integrity of the State and the Country.
