Banks of Nambul River cleaned

Imphal, June 06 2019:
As a part of the World Environment Day yesterday, a cleanliness drive on both sides of the Nambul river stretch flowing through the heart of Imphal was carried out as well.
People residing in 12 wards located in the area from Iroishemba to Heirangoithong, under IMC, participated in cleaning the river, which is easily the most polluted river in the State, from 7 am to 9 am.
It may be mentioned that the Directorate of Environment, along with other Departments, are currently undertaking a major cleaning initiative concerning Nambul river.
Auditor of Nambul Mapan Protection Committee, Keishampat Keisham Leikai, L Inaocha, appealed to one and all to take part in the effort to protect and conserve the river in the future.
On the other hand, Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) carried out a tree plantation river at Irabot park at Keibi Khullen, under its campaign 'Sanghallasi Manipur' yesterday.
