Aimol orgns condemn Pallel incident

Aimol Tribe Union, Manipur (ATUM) has strongly condemned the incident between Pallel and Aimol Satu Village at Laithokching that left one dead and four others injured at around 9:00 pm on Wednesday.
A statement signed by ATUM President S Munthuireng Aimol, the Aimol community and Pallel Meitei community have been "loving each other and extended cooperation to one another for the last many decades" .
He said the Aimol Tribe still supports the Meitei in organising the Laiharaoba rituals.
"Aimols are not only unaware of the incident that happened last night and had not instigated anyone to do so" .
While terming the incidence as "unfortunate" for all communities, ATUM said it wanted the culprit to be booked at the earliest and further stated that the Aimol tribes will extend fullest cooperation to the authority in apprehending the culprit.
Meanwhile, reacting to the newspaper report published in some local dailies regarding the diktat of some militants in connection with the ensuing ADC elections, ATUM appealed all to opt for free and fair elections.
Aimol women stage sit-in protest
In connection with the Pallel incident, a sit-in protest was organised by Aimol Numeivar, a women organization of Aimol at Aimol Tampak waiting shed in Chandel District on Wednesday.
Large numbers of women held several placards condemning the incident.
Speaking to media persons, Aimol Numeivar president Ch Leena Aimol said the body shared the grief of the deceased's family members as well as the injured devotees.
"And we also have no dispute and objection against the villagers of Pallel in organising a ritual at Laithokching", she added.
While assuring to extend possible assistance in booking the culprit(s), she also clarified that the unfortunate incident occurred due to the action of some individual(s) "who indulged in intoxicants" .
Ch Leena asked the culprit to consider the hardship faced by the villagers and surrender himself voluntarily.
Ln Romila, one of the protestors told the media that the people of the area also expressed regrets over the "unwanted incident." She said it would be "unjust to hide such wrong doer" and whatever necessary assistance would be extended to book the culprit.
