The Leimapokpa Keirungba temple located within the defunct MSRTC complex at Moirangkhom is in a neglected and dilapidated condition despite the fact that the Archaeology department, Government of Manipur, had declared it as a historical monument in 1980.In view of the utter negligence by the government most of the people except some scholars and historians do not know such sites and their significances.
This particular temple was constructed in 1875.This was constructed by Leimapokpam Keirungba basically as the granary of the palace.
However people do not know the detailed background of this protected area.
The department had taken it over as the historical monument site.
But the dilapidated condition of the site is disheartening.

L Chourajit, president of the Leimapokpam Keirungba temple board told this reporter that the king had given this title of Keirungba to Debsingh aka Sajouba.
Debsingh's elder brother Thabal Singh was a drummer of king Chandrakriti.
As Keirungba had stayed there it was known as Keirungba temple.
The British army had garrisoned there.
As it was defiled the statue of god was shifted to Chinga Makha.
No idol was kept there after the war.
Turban and other personal effects used by Keirungba were handed over to museum.
Although fund had been sanctioned for renovation so far nothing is seen in concrete.
One person had come to demolish the temple saying that he had bought it on auction.
However an IMC councilor had obstructed it.
