Imphal, November 05 2016: "Pehchan", an artisan ID card registration camp was organised by Marketing and Service Extension Centre, Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) at Shamurou Awang Leikai community hall today.

MP Dr Thokchom Meinya, Shamurou Nagar Panchayat Chairperson L Nonibala Devi, Wangoi AC ex-MLA S Joy Singh, National awardee W Ibotomba Singh and National awardee W Umakanta Singh graced the programme as the presidium members.

MP Dr Thokchom Meinya said that the initiative of the Central Government aims to provide the handicraft artisans better access to benefits and also offers tremendous opportunities for sustainable employment particularly in the rural areas.

The first phase of artisan ID card registration camp was held at Khurkhul and Shamurou and will soon be conducted in various parts of the State, MP Dr Thokchom Meinya said.
