Student bodies to review usage of union fee

Imphal, August 05 2024: The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), Manipur Students' Federation (MSF), Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA), Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK) and Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) have announced that they will review the usage of union fee for the academic session 2023-24 .

In a joint press statement, the student bodies informed that various student welfare activities were put on hold as the Students' Union Election was cancelled due to the present conflict which began on May 3, 2023 .

The student bodies appealed to all the students and teachers to provide their cooperation in ensuring that the union fee is used for development of school/ college and welfare activities of students.

The student bodies also pointed out that activities such as quiz, debate, symposia, sports, cultural programs, co-curricular & extra curricular events, etc are important for the overall development of students.

"The College and Higher Secondary Students' Union elected by the students are an important pressure group for the development of collegiate education in the State", it added.

Further, the student bodies asserted that the decision to review the usage of union fee was taken to ensure that the fund is used properly for the welfare of students and development of educational institutions.
