Imphal, March 05 2019:
Demanding cancellation of the notice for conducting the Skill/Aptitude Test of the candidates for recruiting C and D Grade Multi Tasking Staffs in RIMS which is slated to be held from March 11, the All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) has threatened to launch intense agitation if the Government fails to heed to its demand.
The students' union pointed out that the notice issued for the said recruitment (dated February 28 this year) did not follow the norms mentioned in the Directorate of Personnel and Training (DOPT) Brochure Reservation SC/ST Backward.
Addressing a press meet held at ATSUM office located at Adimjati Complex today, its finance secretary SR Andria termed the issuance of the notification without following the required reservation norms and despite strong opposition from the students' organization, as an act of suppressing the rights of the tribal people in the State.
He further said that ATSUM will not tolerate any kind of act which amounts to suppression of tribal rights adding that the interest of some individuals in manipulating the rights of people is a big factor in creating mistrust among the different communities of the State.
While appealing the authority concerned to follow proper reservation norms, he also demanded the recent notification to be cancelled at the earliest.
Urging Chief Minister N Biren to look into the matter, Andria reminded that the matter of maintaining proper reservation norms in the recruitment of Government services had already been discussed with the Chief Minister in the past.
A charter of demands had also been submitted to the State Government following which a committee was also set up to look into it (the charter of demands).
However, RIMS authority issued a notification on February 28 to continue the recruitment by completely neglecting the reservation policy.
Furthermore, the notification of RIMS authority was issued deriding the State Government's instruction to follow proper guidelines of DOPT in any recruitment, the finance secretary decried.
