Power loom of Barak Handloom Enterprise inaugurated

Senapati, December 04 2020: The 17th foundation day of Barak Handloom Enterprise was held at Pouna colony Senapati DHQ with Senapati DC Kirankumar as chief guest, yesterday.

A first power loom of the enterprise was also inaugurated.

At the programme, the DC stated that development of handloom & handicraft entrepreneurs is crucial to boost local products.

Kirankumar also urged all to encourage the local handloom products 'to preserve our culture and tradition'.

The Deputy Commissioner also congratulated Solomi, the lady proprietor of the enterprise on her well-deserved success.

Guest of honour of the programme, Adahrii Maheo, Addl Deputy Commissioner of the district also lauded Barak Handloom for being the first in the district to introduce power loom.

The district can manage large scale production and meet the public demands now, said the Addl DC.

James Pani, SDO/BDO T Waichong, Kangpokpi encouraged the enterprise to produce maximum items for mass accessibility with reasonable price.

The officer also highlighted the importance of wearing a face mask and maintaining physical distance whenever outdoors to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic.

A group 'Mom in Touch' enthralled the audience with their songs.
