Imphal, November 04 2019:
Forward Block has demanded the State Government to clear the doubt and apprehension existing in the minds of the people regarding the Naga peace talks between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Forward Block State secretary Khomdram Gyaneshore said that following the October 31 Naga peace talks, many Naga organisations and even the Nagaland Chief Minister had lauded the supposed final solution to the protracted political issue.
However, Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured the all political party delegates, led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh that the stakeholders will be consulted before bringing a final solution.
And furthermore, PIB even issued a clarification appealing the people to refrain from believing rumours and false news.
All of these conflicting developments have created confusion and apprehension among the people of the State, he lamented.
Gyaneshore said that while the Naga organisations lauded the supposed final solution, the Centre was mysteriously silent about the matter, and asked what is preventing the Centre from disclosing the terms and conditions of the final agreement to the people.
Everyone welcomes a final solution to the long drawn out Naga political issue.
But the cloud of doubt in the minds of the people regarding the safety of the State will not be eradicated even if the State Government or the Chief Minister himself provide numerous assurance.
Gyaneshore also raised doubt upon the clarification of the Government regarding the large number of paramilitary forces stationed in the State, asking why they are being stationed in large number inside educational institutions.
Why are they being airlifted into the State as if there is some kind of emergency situation and why are the Centre and State Government unable to provide any satisfactory reply to the people till date, he asked.
