6 NSCN-IM cadres sent to jail, 2 formally re-arrested

Out of the eight NSCN (IM) cadres arrested from Wung Tangkhul Regional Camp at Phungreitang, Ukhrul in connection with the killing of Ngalangzar Malue, elected Member and Vice Chairman of ADC Ukhrul, six of them have been remanded to judicial custody for 15 days while the other two were formally re-arrested by police in connection with several other cases registered at Tamenglong Police Station and Phungyar Police Station.
All eight of them were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Imphal West here today.

The six cadres who have been remanded to 15-day judicial custody are 'sergeant major' Issaicher Jato (34) s/o Solomon Jato of Ningthei village, Ukhrul district; 'Lance Corporal' Sepachi (22) s/o Kosai of Phek district, Nagaland; 'Sergeant Major' Khareithing Mung (33) s/o Phungphen Mung of Alungtang village; UKhrul; "lance corporal'Somrei (27) s/o Sinakhui of Kangpat Khunou, Ukhrul district; 'private' Winka Konyak (25) s/o Wangkhu Konyak of Sekegoi village, Mon district, Nagaland and 'private' Longhee Wungsar (25) s/o Wangsai Wingsar of Tirap district, Arunachal Pradesh.
While the two cadres, who have been formally rearrested in connection with other cases registered against them, are Sergeant Major Wunglengpam Raiping (31) s/o Ranreingam of Jashar village, Ukhrul and 'Lance Corporal' VL Shimreingam (33) s/o Alung Valui of Tuinem village, Ukhrul district.
Wunglenpam Raiping was arrested by Tamenglong Police in connection with a case filed under FIR No 22 (11) 2013 while VL Shimreingam by Phungyar Police in connection with a case filed under FIR No 3 (9) 2009 .
The court has directed Wunglenpam Raiping to appear before it on August 8 while VL Shimreingam on August 7 .
NNN adds: all the Christian churches in Tangkhul area organized a 'fasting and prayer program' on August 2 and 3 for normalization of the situation in and around Ukhrul headquarters; for the collective leadership of the NSCN the leaders of Government of India; for the ongoing Indo-Naga peace talk.
The fasting and prayer program was organized in response to the call given by the Inter Churches Forum (ICF) comprising of all Christian denomination, according to Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) .
Tangkhul Naga Long has expressed its profound gratitude to all the churches in around Ukhrul town and all others villages for having organized Special Fasting and Prayer Programmme in their respective church on August 2-3 for dispensation of just peace in 'our land' .
"Though our freedom of faith could not be exercised collectively in the present situation we consider the prayer of believers as a strong moral boost in our struggle for securing our rights to live a dignified lives as a peoples.
While we acknowledge the continued moral and physical support of all churches, we urge each and every Naga citizens to remain prepared in the days to come," the TNL stated.
