Manipuri filmmaker Lakshmipriya Devi is one among two Indian women who have struck it rich at the 17th Asia Pacific Screen Awards held on November 30 at Home of the Arts, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
The 17th APSA recognizes the best in cinema of the Asia Pacific Region of 2024.Lakshmipriya Devi won the Best Youth Film for her debut film "Boong" which charms even as it packs a strong punch while Payal Kapadia's second feature "All We Imagine As Light" won the Jury Grand Prize.
Boong had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and is the heartwarming story of a young boy in Manipur who goes on an adventure to reunite his family.
All We Imagine as Light, which earlier won the Grand Prix at Cannes, also opened at TIFF, and is in the running for the Oscars, is about the dreams and desires of three working class nurses, set in Mumbai.
