Imphal, October 02 2025:
Unable to reach Imphal, two State lads who embarked on a "Peace Ride" from Kerala concluded their journey at Silchar, Assam.
The two bullet riders are Surchandra Yumnam (Gentlemen's Alliance Manipur, Bishnupur District) hailing from Oinam Awang Leikai and Dipu Takhellambam from Uripok.
The coastal ride bearing a message of peace kicked off at Kerala with Imphal, Manipur as the final destination point.
The duo rode through the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, West Bengal etc and reached Jiribam, Manipur on September 30 .
However, they were stopped by security forces from proceeding along National Highway-37 (Imphal-Jiribam Road) owing to the restive situation in the State.
As a result, the duo concluded the "Peace Ride" at Silchar, Assam.
Additionally, members of Gentlemen's Alliance Manipur accorded a warm welcome to Surchandra Yumnam at Manipur Press Club today.
Speaking on the occasion, Surchandra termed it unfortunate that after travelling freely across different States and National Highways, he was stopped from continuing his journey within his own motherland/State.
Commenting on the inability of Meiteis to exercise free movement along NH-37 and NH-2 for a prolonged period, he made an appeal to the Central and State Government to allow all communities to travel freely along these routes.
Meanwhile, Apunba Manipur Ema advisor Lourembam Sachirani also appealed for free movement along the National Highways and decried the incident wherein the duo was stopped from continuing the "Peace.
Ride" along NH-37 .
