Imphal, August 02 2020:
The All Manipur Youth Protection Committee (AMYPCO) has lamented that Manipur failed to cope with the COVID-19 because of its weak socio economic status.
A press release issued by AMYPCO president Shyam Khuman said that studying the history of Manipur is of utmost importance to face similar obstacles in future, considering that Manipur before merging to Indian Union was self sufficient.
The ancient kingdom of Manipur/Kangleipak was an independent kingdom and revered in South East Asia because of the work culture that was prevalent during that time, he said adding that Manipur seems to be degrading as a State each passing day after merging with the Union.
Saying that violation of COVID guidelines at PDS grains distribution sites is a clear indication that many of our granaries are empty, Shyam urged the State Government to support farmers to yield good harvest throughout the year to make the State self sufficient again.
