Awareness prog held

An awareness programme on Chief Ministergi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) and Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), was held at Raj Medicity today.
Director of Health Services Manipur, Dr K Rajo, Raj Medicity Chairman & MD Haobijam Rajen and Raj Medicity Medical Superintendent Dr Aribam Ibotombi Sharma attended the event as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the event, Dr K Rajo said that 66,000 people have been enrolled till date under the CMHT and under this said programme, (which covers AAY, widows, people with disabilities, media persons and hawkers), facilities for free medical treatment upto Rs 2 lakh are provided.
Till date, around 11,000 people have been treated at various hospital under CMHT and around Rs 16 crore has been utilised for the said scheme.
For the current financial year, the State Government has earmarked Rs 20 crore for CMHT, he added.
On the other hand, Dr K Rajo explained that under PMJAY, medical treatment facilities upto Rs 5 lakh are provided to the eligible people included in the SECC 2011.Till date, around 45,000 people have been enrolled under PMJAY, he said.
Pointing out that there are still many who have no knowledge about the said schemes even today, the Director said that organisation of such awareness programme will go a long way in ensuring proper coverage and dissemination of knowledge about the schemes to the masses.
Raj Medicity CMD H Rajen said that Raj Medicity has treated 197 and 111 patients under CMHT and PMJAY respectively.
Informing that Raj Medicity is one of the first hospitals to be included in the empanelled list of CMHT and PMJAY, Rajen continued that the hospital is working tirelessly to ensure success of the two schemes.
However, he explained that lack of proper awareness often results in inconveniences while attempting to implement the said programmes and explained that the problems include late submission of smart card by the patient party and lack of enthusiasm from the patient side.
On the other hand, he claimed that sometimes patient parties even try to shift blame to the hospital but careful investigation often brings out the fault of the patient party.
Health Services Deputy Director Dr Probin Arambam and Raj Medicity Surgical Oncology Senior Consultant Dr Lourembam Sunil as well as various experts also spoke on numerous topics during the event.
