Chavang Kut celebrated at Phaitol and S Moljol village

'Chavang-Kut', the autumn post harvest festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Kuki, Chin and Mizo tribes at Phaitol village of Tousem Sub-Division in Tamenglong District on the theme "Moving forward with Unity & Culture" today.
The event was organized by the Khosung (Village) Level Kut Committee at Phaitol public ground.
The celebration began with thanksgiving prayer offered by Fr George Ginsei Baite, Phaitol Parish and showed gratitude to the almighty for a bountiful harvest followed by welcome address delivered by Pu Jangsat Haokip.

The programme was attended by Namsinrei Panmei, Chairman ADC Tamenglong as chief guest, Hatlhing Doungel, MDC, 10-Phaitol DCC as functional president while SG Panmei, vice-Chairman, ADC Tamenglong attended the programme as guest of honour.
L Thanmawia Pajamte graced the programme as Kutpa.
It may be mentioned that 'Chavang-Kut', which is celebrated annually in November, brings the people together to ensure peace, harmony and love in this beautiful State.
Apart from Kukis, Chins and Mizo tribes, other tribes and communities also participated in the festival to make it an occasion of peace and unity in the State.
Speaking on behalf of Awangbou Newmei, MLA 52-Tamei (ST) AC at the occasion, Hatlhing Doungel extended gratitude to all for making the programme a grand success amidst bandh and blockade.
Hatlhing Doungel further said the MLA was not able to attend the programme, however, he conveyed his best wishes for the programme as well as the gifts to be presented to the village chiefs and elders.
One of the main attractions of the festival was the cultural dance performed by the troupe of various localities of Jiribam and Phaitol areas during the celebration.
It might be recalled that Manipur is home to 29 tribes and it celebrates a number of traditional festivals.
Such events not only highlight the vibrant colors of the region, but also play an important role in strengthening bonds between different tribes.
Tengnoupal: Harvesting festival of the Chin-Kuki-Mizo 'Chavang Kut 2019' under the theme "My Culture My Identity" was celebrated at S Moljol village, Moreh today.
The program was organised by S Moljol Kut Celebration Committee.
Ex-minister Onjamang Haokip attended the programme as chief guest while president of the Hill Tribal Council, Moreh Ginkhosei Lhungdim attended as functional president and president of Guite Phungpi Organisation, North East India Ngamthang Guite was present as the Kut Pa in today's Kut celebration.
The celebration began with a traditional gun salute while Chinneivah Haokip, member of ADC Chandel; Letkhohao Vaiphai OC Moreh PS and leaders of Meitei Council Moreh, Hill Tribal Council, Manipur Muslim Council Moreh, Tamil Sangam, Gorkha Samaj Moreh, All Community Development Organization Moreh, village chiefs and public from Moreh town were also present in the Kut celebration.
Speaking at the occasion, Onjamang Haokip said that the harvesting festival of Chin-Kuki-Mizo is recognised by the State Govt.Stating that the festival should be an inclusive, he said that it was changed from 'Chavang Kut' to 'Kut' in the state level to accommodate all the Kuki tribes.
Cultural troupe from Haijang Veng, P Laijang village, S Moljol village, SL Munpi village, Yangoupokpi village, Solam Pahhoi, TL Haijang village performed various Kuki cultural dances during the celebratory function.
