Five day National workshop concludes

A five day National Workshop on Re-organisation of Museum Storage concluded at Manipur Legislative Assembly Museum & Archives today.
The workshop was organised by Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) in collaboration with the Manipur Legislative Assembly Museum & Archives, Manipur.
During the workshop, a team of four experts from IGNCA, New Delhi namely Dr Achal Pandya, Head Conservation Division IGNCA, Prof Dr Sunjay Jain, Former Dean & HOD, Museology, The MS University Vadodara, Dr Shilpi Roy, Research Officer, IGNCA and Dr Satyendra Kumar, Research Officer, IGNCA imparted rigorous training on Re-organisation Methodology to 25 enthusiastic local participants.
Museum Professional from Manipur Legislative Assembly Museum & Archives, experts from Manipur State Museum, State Archaeology Department, Kangla Museum, Manipur University Museum and University of Culture also participated in the workshop.
During the inaugural function, Dr Achal Pandya delivered a lecture on 'Museum Storage-A worldwide issue' and explained re-organisation method in detail and IGNCA's initiative towards its implementation.
A full storage re-organisation project was completed during this workshop, which addresses four main areas of responsibility related to storage condition of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Museum & Archives such as Management, Building & Space, Collection and Furniture & small equipment, with support of Deputy Director L Bimol and Assistant Curator Surbala Sagolsem.
State Assembly Speaker, Y Khemchand inaugurated the National workshop on November 26 as the chief guest.
IGNCA is an autonomous Institution under the Ministry of Culture which serves as a major resource centre of Arts, especially written, oral and visual materials .
It started capacity building programmes on Re-org method in active collaboration with ICCROM since 2010.M Ramani, Secretary, Manipur Legislative Assembly, G Tapankumar Sharma, Joint Secretary, Manipur Legislative Assembly, Dr Sanjay Jain and Dr Satyendra Kumar attended the closing function as well.
