Tamenglong, November 30 2016: Some unidentified persons today attempted to burn down two Government offices including Zonal Education Office, Tamenglong and Public Works Department, Tamenglong division, our correspondent reports.

The incident occurred at around 1am today.

The chowkidar who lives at the office complex of Zonal Education Office Tamenglong said he heard a sound like those made when stone falls on a tin roof.

He went out to see what was making the noise when he saw a light near the office.

"I thought some police personnel may be warming themselves with the fire.

But when i came nearer to the office, nobody was there and the office door was burning.

I immediately woke up my family members and called police and doused the fire on time", he narrated.

Zonal Education Officer in-charge Kadi Kamei, when contacted, said that the reason for the attempted arson is unknown.

He appealed to all the concerned not to target Government offices.

Attempted arson was also made to the office of the PWD Tamenglong Division at same time by the unknown persons.

Luckily, the fire was doused on time by the chowkidar.
