Govt sets for an alternative route to Moreh

Imphal, October 31 2012:
Even as black topping along a distance of 30-kilometre stretch of Imphal-Moreh road is yet to be completed, the State government is all set to go ahead for another alternative route which would be 13 kilometre shorter from the existing route.
The distance between Imphal to Moreh is 105 Km.
Speaking at the inaugural function of Moreh ADC and SDO offices at the border town today, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar informed that the proposed alternative route would be lay out from Heirok in Thoubal district to Khudengthabi in Chandel district.
The route would shorten the distance from Imphal to Moreh by 13 km, the Minister said.
However, he Minister didn't give any detail on the project cost or its commencement.

Regarding delayed over completion of black topping along the existing route; the Works Minister assured that black topping of Imphal-Moreh road would be completed by December this year.
He further said that Moreh is an important border town of India and the government is looking forward to develop the town with proper planning.
In the backdrop of the India's Look East Policy, the Works Minister, who felt the necessity of developing inter-village road in Moreh, also conducted a tour of the area after the inaugural function.
He also inspected the sites for construction of required infrastructures for developing the border town.
Rural Development Minister Francis Ngajokpa and Parliamentary Secretary for YAS and Tourism M Prithviraj also attended the inaugural function of the offices as Guests of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion both the dignitaries stressed on the need for understanding among the various communities living in Moreh.
