Home guard personnel decry prolonged negligence of State Govt

Manipur Home Guard Employees Welfare Association (MHGEWA) Imphal has decried the negligence of the State Home Department towards home guard personnel and failing to hear their grievances and also in ignoring the instruction given by the higher authority.
A press release issued by secretary of MHGEWA stated that the association had sought information on steps taken up by the Home Department following the issuance of the letter sent by Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI to State Chief Secretary regarding "enhancement of duty allowance of Home Guard as per the judgement of the Supreme Court of India" on April 11, last year.
Th association, after failing to receive any response from the Department took the mater to the State Information Commission and subsequently, the Commission instructed the Home Department to provide the response sought by the association within a week, on June 24 this year.
Earlier, the Home Department had responded that the matter after discussing by the cabinet has been sent to law Department for approval and that the Government will complete the process at the earliest.
The Commission had instructed the Department to provide the information sought by the association including the proceeding copy/agenda note and copy of Law Department comment and the current progress.
The association then submitted a complaint petition to the Chief Information Commissioner of Manipur Information Commission urging to take immediate action following the inaction of the Home Department within the stipulated time, on July 29.Home guard personnel of the State denounced the constant negligence of the authorities concerned towards the personnel, remarked the association while appealing the State Government to do the needful for the welfare of home guard personnel in the State.
Notably, as per the Supreme Court order, the interpretation of minimum of pay includes pay + grade pay + DA + washing allowance.
