Imphal, July 31 2011:
In yet another case of a bogus company swindling huge amounts of money from innocent people, a bogus Mini Anganwadi Centre duped many innocent people of the state to the tune of ' 30 crore by 'appointing' them as employees and collecting deposits.
Frustrated employees petitioned the Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench comprising of Justice BP Katakey against the bogus company which was run by Mutum Robin son of M Kalamu of Charangpat Mayai Leikai and Shrimayum Mani wife of Sh Ibochoubi of Yourabung Khunou under the name and style "Government of India, Office of the Child Welfare Services, Mini Anganwadi, BO Lamlong Bazar Imphal East".
The two persons had posed as Director and Chairman of the Mini Anganwadi.
They assured the people of the state that they are opening 2800 Anganwadi centres throughout the state and made advertisements calling for intending persons for serving as Assistant Director, Supervisors, LDCs, Anganwadi Workers and Helpers and collected more than ' 30 crore from appointed candidates as deposit money.
However the appointed employees were not given any jobs nor given their monthly salaries or remunerations.
Later it was found that the two persons had gone missing.
The employees then lodged a report to the SP Thoubal for initiating appropriate legal action against the two persons.
Unfortunately no action has been taken up till date regarding the matter.
The petitioners Md Amzad Khan, Yambem Memton and Sandham Lokenbabu prayed the court to direct the state respondents for registering an FIR case against the two persons for investigation and to transfer the investigation to the CBI.
The respondents were the State of Manipur represented by the Commissioner/Secretary Home, DGP Manipur Police, SP Thoubal, OC Thoubal PS and others.
After hearing the petition, the court ordered Raghumani, learned State Counsel to obtain information relating to the reason for non registration of the FIR, stated to have been filed by the petitioners on October 6, 2010 before the SP Thoubal district.
The next hearing of the case will be held on August 8 .
