Akashvani Concert enthralls public

Along with spreading the message of peace, unity and communal harmony, a free Musical Concert organised by All India Radio (AIR), Imphal at Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT), Palace Compound here today evening enthralled the people with melodious songs belted out by many approved artists of AIR, Imphal.
The Musical Concert was inaugurated by renowned Musicologist and yesteryear singer, Laishram Birendrakumar as Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Birendrakumar observed that music is the spiritual eye which can perceive the eternal joy.
Recalling that earlier it was quite difficult for singers to hone their talent as there were hardly any music schools or institutes, he noted that today's artists are lucky enough to have a number of music learning institutes of their choice.

So, the artists should take advantage of this situation and promote modern songs.
In spite of his old age, Birendrakumar sang one of his all time favourite songs, "O Iril Turel" (lyrics by B Layentakumar Sharma) to standing ovation.
Earlier, delivering the key note address, Moirangthem Kanankumar, Assistant Station Director and Programme Head, AIR, Imphal, observed that artists of the state have a great responsibility towards bringing peace, integrity and unity among the people.
Keeping this in mind, AIR, Imphal came up with the idea of organizing this musical event under the theme of "peace, unity and communal harmony" .
Young approved artists of AIR like Nongmaithem Solendro, Oinam Swamikumar, Huidrom Nowboy, Hamom Sadananda, KongkhamBirkumar, Khiun Jiban, Aso Shinglai,Kakai Kipgen, Thongam Luxmi, Sunita Nepram, Rk Nandeshwori, GA Hemolata,Takhellambam Mandakini and Sarita Gazmeer presented songs in the concert.
Senior artist, S Tijendra, who was specially invited for the occasion, also presented three songs.
