Manipur International University foundation stone laid at Purul

PHE Minister, Losii Dikho laid the foundation stone of Manipur International University (MIU) campus on February 27 at Purul village under Senapati district in the presence of Chancellor of MIU, Dr Harikumar Pallathadka; SDO/BDO of Purul Block, PP Ronald, MCS; president of Poumai Naga Union, Dailord Pao; president of Purul Union, PS Paotei; president of All Manipur Tribal Union and HTDC-MIU, RK Ajin; Deputy Registrar of JNU Delhi, Kh Siile Antony; General Secretary of HTDC-MIU, H Luny Justin and MIU officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Dikho said that education is very important for us and Purul has made a very wise decision to invite a University into their village.
Lauding the" efforts of the village, Dikho said that it is very hard to even bring a school in a village but having a University campus in the village is a great thing.
Dikho congratulated and appreciated the vision and initiative of the University and the Purul village and urged the villagers to extend support and cooperation for the visionary project.
The Minister also thanked the University for spearheading such a project for the people and assured all possible support.
Dr Pallathadka in his address said, "we are all stakeholders in the future of our children.
We need to impart education that is focused on the future and equip the children with the skills and knowledge to face the challenges of life through overall holistic development".
He thanked the villagers for their unparalleled support and assured to inaugurate the campus as soon as possible.
He also expressed his gratitude towards the State Government under the able leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh for the support.
From the Department of Administration and Human Resource MIU, Tiganlung Franky Rikhi Panmei said, "It is our mission to provide high quality education with an emphasis on rural and tribal communities to prepare students for service and leadership in a diverse, global society, to connect India with the world by welcoming opportunities, talent, and technology from the rest of the world".
He informed that the University pivots on the 5 pillars of development called ECHER - Environment Protection and Development, Cultural Preservation and Development, Human Resource and Education, Economic and Infrastructural Development, Rural and Tribal Development.
The programme was also attended by village chiefs and Purul villagers.
The Purul villagers expressed their gratitude for selecting their village and assured all support and cooperation for the success of the noble initiative.
It may be mentioned that the present campus will be known as "MIU Canaan Avaabo Campus" as per the desire of the villagers and to promote local culture.
Manipur International University (MIU) is an Autonomous State Statutory International University established and recognized by the State Government of Manipur.
MIU is established by an Act of State called Manipur International University Act, 2018 and is recognized and listed by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India.
It is also declared as an "International University of Excellence" and an "Institution of State Importance" by the State.
Purul is one of the campuses of MIU to be included in the first phase of development.
