Two local journalists were allowed to give their eye witness accounts before the C Upendra commission of enquiry of the last July 20 incident at Uripok traffic point which resulted in the death of one Laitonjam Rajkumar in the CRPF firing.
The two local; journalists, Sanabam Ringo a staff reporter and M Dilip photo journalist, both employees of Huiyen Lanpao vernacular daily have testified before the commission today along with the reports and photograph taken on July 20 last at Uripok traffic point and nearby areas.
Sanabam Ringo giving his statement before the commission disclosed that he along with M Dilip were assigned to keep vigil of the Khwairamband Bazar areas on July 20 morning by their seniors in connection with the students silent rally.
He said both reached Uripok traffic point around 11 am and they saw students coming in a rally from Nagamapal road toward Uripok traffic point and then turning towards Hathi Chowk where the students were blocked by the security forces with road barricades.
He further said, he did not see any student holding stones but had books in their hands.
He stated that after the security actions to disperse the crowd began, he and Dilip stayed at the side where security forces were on that day.
