CM adds substance to Makhel Heritage Conclave

Chief Minister N Biren Singh graced the cultural session of the Makhel Heritage Conclave of Mao Students Union as honoured guest today in the presence of Lok Sabha MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze as special guest, PHED Minister L Dikho, MLA N Kayisii and A Kapani, Caretaker Chairman, ADC, Senapati as the hosts.
Speaking as the honoured guest, Chief Minister N Biren Singh stressed on the importance of the historical village and appreciated that the conclave will focus on exploring and promoting art and culture of the region under the theme, "Rekindling Our Heritage".
The CM also recommended a new name for the site, "Re-United Heritage Park of Manipur", and assured to take up the matter under Planning and Corpus fund.
The site would be an inspiration to many to learn about the history of the place, he said.
Such initiative could promote and will facilitate the youth with leadership skills and exploring career opportunities through academic sessions.
Biren also talked about many changes that have been brought to Senapati district during the last 4-5 years including the opening of trauma centre, blood bank, women's market, mini stadium, water supply, Sabhna Mandav, Residential School etc.
The CM also assured to look for an appropriate site for Mao Market in Imphal and stressed on the need to let the youth of the region opt for sports as a career.
Further, he appealed to the people to put on masks whenever there is public gathering to avoid further spread of the virus.
In his keynote address, Dr Saheni Loli, president, Mao Council lauded the CM for all the developmental activities undertaken in the area.
The Makhel Heritage Conclave is stated to be an attempt to relieve the old myth of Meiteis, the Ahom and the Nagas living together in harmony, he added.
He also stressed on the need to develop the place into a cultural and tourism site.
Timikha Koza, president, Tenyimi People's Organization (TPO) in his greetings lauded the Mao people for being hard working.
The TPO leader also spoke about settling the pending border land issue in the near future which could bring better relationships among people of both States.
In his speech PHED Minister L Dikho thanked the CM for all his commitment to develop the region and called him the first CM of Manipur to visit the hill districts frequently.
Through his support, the PHED Minister stated that the Mao Cherry Blossom Festival could be internationalized.
Special guest Dr Lorho S Pfoze stated that the past leaders from Mao community had shown good precedence on how to lead and strengthen a community together under their leadership to ensure a vibrant community.
MLA L Sushindro expressed appreciation for the NPF and stated that with the coming of a new era, relationships between different people of the State would hopefully get better.
Cultural dances from Laii (Vafiimai), cultural troupe representing the Poumai tribe, Yangkhullen dance troupe representing the Zeliang tribe and cultural troupe from Kaibi village were showcased during the program.
