Three persons who were injured in police firing during the anti-NSCN (IM) ceasefire uprising gave their testimonies before the C Upendra Commission at Kuki Inn today.
Chingangbam Pandit (21) of Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai stated that he had witnessed agitators burning the MSCP office and bringing out Speaker Dr S Dhananjoy on the southern gate of the Speaker's Bungalow on June 18.A little later after the agitators had brought the Speaker, firing started near the Chief Minister's Bungalow.
On hearing the gunshots, he started running but was hit by a bullet on his left leg near the Central Library, Pandit said adding that he was later taken to the house of one Dr Premchand by fellow agitators.
Pandit was cross examined by the counsels for the Government and CRPF.
Urikhinbam Saratkumar (19) of Pheija Leitong who was struck by a bullet near the Nupi Lan Complex on the day said that police resorted to lathi charge and blank fire when the agitators shouted slogans in front of the Governor's Bungalow.
The firing dispersed the crowd, he said and added that he was hit while running on the Nupi Lan Complex side.
He ran till Sanjenthong from where he was taken to the JN Hospital by a commando vehicle, he added.
He was questioned by the counsels of police and CRPF.
Thokchom Momocha (22) of Uripok Yambem Leikai who was hit by a teargas shell at his forehead at Keisampat bridge on June 18 also testified.
He said that security forces tried to stop the agitators coming from the Uripok side at Uripok Traffic island.
The security forces who were firing blank rounds turned on the agitators.
