Imphal, May 29 2011: Reacting to the demand of the State Government to make the agenda of the tripartite talk clear, the United Naga Council (UNC) has claimed that it has already been made clear that the talk should be on the issue contained in the memorandum dated September 14, 2010 submitted to the Government of India.

Further the 3rd December talk at Senapati (Tahamzam) was held on the basis of the memorandum and State Government representatives had made reference to it, claimed a press release issued by the UNC.

As per the Government of India's communication, the Government of Manipur had requested the Government of India to request the UNC to communicate directly with the State Government and to come out with a clear agenda for the talk.

But the Nagas in Manipur have severed all political ties with the alleged communal Government of Manipur and to expect the UNC not to do so would only reflect lack of seriousness and non-cognizance of the gravity of the situation.

Saying that the UNC is not associated with political parties, it clarified that the tripartite talk is not related in anyway to the launching programme of the Naga People's Front, Manipur Unit or to the visit of Nagaland Chief Minister to Senapati for the same.

To establish direct linkage between the tripartite talk and the said event betrays bankruptcy of fairness and honesty on the part of the Government of Manipur, the UNC asserted.

With regard to the delicate law and order situation in Senapati as reportedly cited by the State Government to the Union Government for putting off the tripartite talk scheduled for tomorrow, the UNC claimed that there is no law and order situation in Senapati except for deployment of IRBs and police commandos in hundreds.

If there is a delicate law and order situation in Senapati, it is the creation of the Government of Manipur and its agencies, the UNC alleged.

The UNC further appealed to all Churches/organisations for their continued moral and prayer support for early realisation of the alternative arrangement for the Nagas in Manipur.

The decision to sever all links with the Government of Manipur came close in the wake of the ban imposed on the entry of Th Muivah to his birth place in Somdal village in Ukhrul district and conduct of the ADC election.
