Imphal, July 28 2014 :
Main-taining that what Chief Minister had stated in the Manipur Legislative Assem-bly today on the issue of ILPS was not satisfactory, the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) Manipur has announced that they would carry on the ongoing protest agitation.
Speaking to media persons this evening, JCILPS convenor Ibotombi Khu-man said that what they have been demanding and what the CM stated were contradictory.
A memorandum submitted by JCILPS was asking the 60 legislators to reaffirm the Assembly resolu- tions adopted last year during the Assembly session which concluded today and take the responsibility of lobbying with the Government of India to the effect that Assembly resolution is translated into action.
The memorandum also demanded introduction of a Bill, and enactment and enforcement of an appropriate law.
Another similar memorandum was also submitted by women activists to the 60 MLAs on July 18 .
It was disappointing that none of the MLAs bothered to raise a single point on the ILPS issue during the Assembly session and what Chief Minister Ibobi stated in the House today was not all satisfactory, Ibotombi said.
He pointed out that Ibobi suggested about all party delegation only after the agitation intensified, followed by brutal police crack down and arrest of many students and women activists.
As such, there is no question of suspending the ongoing movement but the course of agitation would be decided in consultation with the people.
He also demanded unconditional release of all the students and activists arrested in the course of the ongoing agitation.
So far 35 women activists and six students have been arrested, he added.
