Imphal, December 26 2014 : Revolutionary People's Front's department of minority affairs celebrated Christmas at the department's office on December 25, according to a statement issued by the chief of department of publicity, RPF.

secretary of RPF department of monority affairs MS Jackie said the day has been observed to remember prea-chings of Jesus Christ in pro- moting peace, equality, brotherhood and truth, and also to bridge the gap between the hills and valley.

Terming the recent forced conversion of many people to Hinduism by some Hindu fanatics as an act which challen- ged secularism, MS Jackie added that there can be unity and peace in the society only when people irrespective of religion, caste and creed are treated with equality and respect for each other's diffrences.

Statement of RSS chief Mohan Bhagat where he had said, "Hindustan is a Hindu Nation and Hindutva is the identity of our Nation" was nothing but a blatant attempt to turn all the Hindus into fanatics, he added.

He urged the people to uphold the age-old relationship of brotherhood, love and unity between the hills and valley and march forward towards a unified society/State.
