Imphal, February 26 2023: The unprecedented growth of mobile phone industry has given an impetus to skilled technicians at par with other jobs as it provides a source of livelihood to many techni-cians who engage in mobile phone servicing jobs.

Today, The Sangai Express went to the authorised servicing centres of Sam-sung at Moirangkhom Sou- gaijam Leirak and interacted with the technicians there.

While interacting with this reporter, manager of Samsung Servicing Centre Manipur, Pukhrambam San-tosh said that there are one master engineer, one senior engineer, one expert engineer and six other staff at the Moirangkhom branch of the Samsung Servicing Centre.

Saying that all the engineers are well trained, Santosh maintained that they are able to provide for their families through this profession.

Further stating that there are 33 authorised servicing centres of Samsung in North East India, Santosh maintained that the servicing centre at Moirangkhom was shifted from Paona Keithel.

He also said that repairing mobile phones at an authorised servicing centre is more trustworthy as entrusting expensive mobile phones to unauthorised centres is risky.

Continuing that they usually repair over 500 mobile phones every month, he added that the servicing centre at Moirangkhom is open from 9.30 am to 6 pm.

"We buy components of mobile phones which need replacement as well as tools for repairing from a warehouse of the company directly," Santosh maintained and added that they don't charge any maintenance fee if the mobile phone is under warranty coverage.

Saying that most of the families now own at least one mobile and the rate at which mobile phone industry is growing is unprece- dented, Santosh maintained that mobile phones have become an essential gadget for every person.

"With the advent of mobile phone technology, students can now attend online classes from their homes and the same was seen during the peak of Covid pandemic," he added.

"Mobile phones are one of the most useful gadgets if used appropriately," Santosh continued and added that there, however, is a room to use technology for unethical purposes.

At Khwairamband Keithel, one retailer of mobile phones said that the majority of the people in Manipur prefer to buy mobile phones from e-commerce platforms nowadays.

Saying that selling even one or two mobile phones in a day has become extremely difficult, he continued that people in Manipur might spend crores of rupees every year in buying mobile phones alone.
