COVID-19 situation under control: Biren

The COVID-19 situation in the State is under "control" and people need not panic, claimed Chief Minister N Biren Singh today and appealed all to stop stigmatizing and discriminating healthcare workers who are risking their lives to save others at this hour of the pandemic.
Briefing media persons at his Secretariat office today, the Chief Minister maintained that the priority of the Government is to save human lives from the dreaded disease.
He said that people of the State need not panic and claimed that the situation is under "control" .

He said, "We must learn to live with the virus till the vaccine is developed" .
Urging people to obey the guidelines and SOPs issued by the Government, the Chief Minister maintained that the Government has already issued an order that all asymptomatic patients can go for home isolation under the supervision of doctors.
He said that with the preventive and precautionary measures being taken up by the Government, the spread of COVID-19 in the State can be reduced.
He appreciated the CSOs, police, healthcare workers and people for their cooperation and support in combating the virus.
N Biren Singh informed that the Government has given Rapid Antigen Testing kits to hospitals including private hospitals so that they can conduct COVID-19 tests before admitting patients.
PPE kits will also be provided to all private hospitals, he added.
N Biren mentioned that out of 1608 active cases, around 800 cases are paramilitary personnel and the remaining cases are civilians.
He stated that the recovery rate of COVID-19 cases in the State is around 70 per cent which is much higher than that of other States and the National average.
The fatality rate of the State stands at 0.4 % while the National average is 1.9 %, he added.
Replying to a query regarding increasing number of cases among the paramilitary personnel in the State, he informed that a meeting has been scheduled tomorrow with high ranking officials of CAPF to review the measures being taken up by their units to check further spread of the disease among the personnel.
He further informed that the State Government has requested the Union Home Ministry to suspend further transfer and posting of CAPF personnel in the State for some period.
He said that a revised SOP will be issued for the inter-State and intra-State movement of vehicles and persons soon.
