CM felicitates champion from Kangpokpi

Imphal/Kangpokpi, June 25 2022:
Chief Minister N Biren Singh felicitated the Mixed Martial Arts fighter Satgunhao Kipgen at the Chief Minister's Secretariat this evening.
Satgunhao Kipgen, who is from Saparmeina, Kangpokpi district, Manipur, bagged a Gold Medal in AIMMAF National Open MMA Championship held recently in New Delhi.
The Chief Minister interacted with Kipgen and his family and motivated him to continue his practice dedicatedly to achieve more success in future.
N Biren also assured to provide all possible support to the MMA fighter to achieve his aim of acquiring training in Thailand and becoming a UFC player.
Satgunhao Kipgen was accompanied by his mother and representatives of Thadou Inpi-GHQ (Apex Body of Thadou Tribe) during the felicitation programme.

Earlier today, civil society organizations of Kangpokpi including Kuki Inpi, Thadou Inpi, KSO, TYA, TSA, Zillai, TWA, KRSU, and KWU rolled out the red carpet to Satgunhao Kipgen as the fighter landed at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport.
The reception ceremony was also attended by Saikul AC MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing who lauded the Mixed Martial Arts gold medallist and extended a warm welcome while assuring him to support in all possible manner.
As the gold medalist landed at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, the CSO leaders of Kangpokpi and his fans welcomed him and cheered him all along the way to his residential place at Saparmeina where a reception ceremony was hosted by United Saparmeina Youth Club and Saparmeina Village Authority.
Despite being from a humble background, Satgunhao Kipgen pursued his career in the Mixed Martial Arts with the support of his widowed mother and four siblings and bagged his first gold medal in the North East Fight Championship held in Guwahati in 2019 .
He went on to bag a silver medal in the Interstate Wushu Championship 2020 in Manipur.
In 2021, the young fighter bagged a gold medal in Hero Pro Fight Night, 2021 in Maharashtra and a silver medal in the All India Mixed Martial Arts Federation National Mixed Martial Arts Championship in Bangalore.
After the demise of his father Ngulkhosat Kipgen, his mother Lhingcha Kipgen raised the MMA fighter along with his four siblings.
Satgunhao also expressed his keen desire to further his training in Thailand and become the most successful UFC player from Manipur in the history of India.
