Nagaland: 30 houses gutted in city blaze

Kohima, March 24 2018:
A major fire at Y.Zhimo colony, Signal Basti, Dimapur on March 23 rendered several families homeless.
The fire started at around 8:30 pm.
While the extent of damage was still to be fully assessed, it was estimated that atleast 30 houses were razed by the fire.
The flames spread rapidly with the Fire & Emergency Services in Dimapur having to requisition two fire trucks from the Chumukedima station.
A fireman said that seven trucks � 5 from Dimapur and two from Chumukedima � were pressed into action with as many as forty personnel responding to the emergency.
It took fire-fighters assisted by the locals over two hours to contain the flames.
There was no report of casualty at the time of filing this report.
Fire & Emergency personnel were still assessing the extent of damage.
