Imphal, October 23 2012:
Taking serious note of the recent instruction of the IOC to LPG distributors of Manipur which directed that consumers with incomplete documents, having similar names, similar addresses and parents' names should be blocked, CAF &PD Minister M Okendro has decided to write to Petroleum Minister Jaipal Reddy and the IOC pointing out that its instruction is inapplicable in Manipur.
Talking to The Sangai Express, Okendro stated that the IOC's instruction would not be feasible in Manipur.
He also asserted that LPG distribution system should continue in the existing manner.
A written representation would be sent to Petroleum Minister Jaipal Reddy as well as the IOC tomorrow asking them not to implement IOC's new instruction in Manipur, Okendro conveyed.
On the other hand, the ongoing survey being conducted by CAF&PD Department for introducing LPG home delivery system would be completed in December.
Instead of the existing system where LPG consumers are all mixed up, LPG consumers would be classified under a new system based on their places of residence.
Use of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes would be prohibited after giving a time period of 15 days.
Moreover, sale of LPG refills in shops would be banned, said Minister Okendro.
